Welcome to the Linux Users Group at the University of Texas at Dallas! We are a student organization devoted to the teaching and advocacy of Linux, open source, and free software of all kinds. We welcome anyone and everyone from the Linux, Unix, BSD, and OS X realms, so come join us. All meetings are open to the public.
The date of the first meeting of the Fall 2010 semester is to be determined. We don't have a room reserved yet, but it will probably be in the quad (ECSS 2.305/2.306/2.311/2.312) area of the Engineering South building. Topic will be an introduction to the Linux community. Our last meeting was on Wednesday, April 28th, 2010. We discussed Linux tips and tricks.
The next installfest is coming within the next few months. We will probably plan the particulars at the first meeting of the semester. If you're interested in helping out or want to get involved, be sure to come to the that meeting and make yourself heard. If you'd like more information about past installfests, please visit the installfest page.
We have one meeting every two weeks which usually has two short presentations on different topics. If you would like to read about our past topics, please visit the meetings database.
We have several mailing lists for the public to join and keep abreast of our activities. Announcements about all meetings and activities are broadcast on the Announce mailing list, and there's general discussion and questions on the General list. Instructions for subscribing to either or both of them are available here.
The UTDLUG has its own channel, #utdlug, on irc.oftc.net. A short how-to on using Xchat to connect and chat on this channel is available here.
Check the organization page for contact information if you need to get in touch with the group. There is a facebook group as well if you would like to join.
This website is a continual work in progress. If you'd like to help out, visit the todo page and see what's currently on the menu.
